The internet has been a-buzz since news broke yesterday that 23-year-old Evan Spiegel, the co-founder and chief executive of messaging service Snapchat, turned down a $3 billion offer to be acquired by Facebook.

Three billion dollars ain’t chump change. Especially for an app that so far isn’t generating revenue.
